Insulin quality control sucks!

For the first time ever since my t1d diagnosis in 2000 I had a bottle of insulin lose potency.

All damn day yesterday I battled my blood sugar. I took corrections via pump, a syringe and insulin bottle. I could keep it hovering around 300 but not get it any lower.

12 hour battle to get a newly inserted sensor that failed to work!

I've had a 12 hour battle with my new dexcom sensor, first it said I was 53 for hours, (at 10pm) then I calibrated because it almost tipped the insanity scale.  It kept asking for a calibration every 15 fricken minutes and then it FAILED, of course!  Ahhhh!

So I switched back to xdrip+

Restart Dexcom G6 sensor on just your phone

3 comments:
How to restart your G6 sensor with just your phone and no x2 pump.

1. Phone alarms for 6 hours left on the sensor.

2. Go to the picture folder I keep on my phone for the current sensor code or wherever you have yours written down.

My G6 sensor mysteriously ended itself 3 days early

No comments:
So today at 8:08 am my sensor for whatever reason said my session ended.  It wasnt due to be changed or restarted for 3 more days.  I have no idea why this happens sometimes.

Restart Dexcom G6 sensor with x2 and phone updated

I restarted yet another G6 sensor today using my Samsung Galaxy S8 and my x2 Tandem pump. The same instructions should work with an iphone.

Changed things up a bit

No comments:
So I started a facebook support group a a few years ago and it never got much traffic.

Today I decided to alter the name of the group due to the amount of people needing help restarting their Dexcom G6 sensors.  I have helped and answered probably 200 questions about restarting sensors.  The groups are just slammed with questions.  So I figured it can't hurt to open up my group to a wider group of people and help alleviate some of the other groups with the hundreds of restart questions.

Check it out here:

Restarting a G6 Dexcom sensor after running out of time and using the X2.

2 comments:
Last weekend I was so busy cleaning my house for one of our kids birthday parties that I forgot I was running out of time on my sensor session.

Restarting my Dexcom G6 with Basal IQ running on my Tandem X2

6 comments:
Today I finally did a restart of my G6 Dexcom sensor while having it run on my X2 tandem insulin pump.

The original sensor I did when I updated my pump had to be yanked off.  My tape was eating the skin on my leg.  If I go too far to the backside of my leg, my skin is like allergic to my Opsite Flexifix.  Its really crazy.

So at my 6 hr warning or whatever it was I decided I had to do my restart!

Restarting Dexcom G6 sensors and Tandem X2 Basal IQ update.

7 comments:
So hopefully everyone knows you can in fact restart G6 sensors.  You can follow Katie Disimone's awesome tutorial here:
http://seemycgm.com/2018/06/11/restarting-g6-sensors-and-transmitter/

We have now discovered you can restart a sensor after it officially expires, if you accidentally do that.  You can follow the same above directions or try what works for me.

Finally getting a few minutes to do my Basal IQ training!

No comments:
Today I am doing my Tandem Basal IQ training online after getting the email.

It was an easy training session and I would have gotten it faster but the system kept booting me out.

Tandem has started rolling out the Basal IQ software update!

No comments:
I just read in a group that emails are going out to update your pumps software! You can get the ball rolling youself for the update here: https://portal.tandemdiabetes.com/login

Now I just have to wait for my Endo to write the prescription and get a call from Tandem!

So I made the switch to G6 Dexcom

1 comment:
I had been planning on staying with the G5 Dexcom set up but after Tandem announced that the PLGS software was only going to be with G6 I decided to make the upgrade as my transmitter was due to croak in less than a month.

Invalid transmitter I.D. alert, I hate you.

3 comments:

Oh my lord I finally had to do a shut down and restart on my tandem x2 pump because last night at 2am it decided to start beeping its beeping head off saying invalid transmitter I.D. AGAIN!  So now I'm running my x2 with no Dexcom data on it. My Dexcom G6 setup is due to arrive tomorrow anyway.  l'll just ride the no dex data on my pump until the software update comes out in less than a month (hopefully).  Man oh man, gotta love this stupid invalid transmitter I.D. issue.  Being awake from 2-230 fixing my flipping pump was not the highlight of my night, especially after the nearly 2 year old had a major flip out session at bed time.

Metformin g.i. effects seem to be better

1 comment:
My g.i. tract seems to have adjusted again to the metformin. This is good news. I think I will stick to 500mg e.r. twice a day for 2 months instead of going up right away.  My bowels need a break! Hah!

Now we will see how well it controls my b.g. in my resistance week.  I need to up night time basals for sure. Hence my post before this one....yikes!

Why are these X2 pumps so glitchy?

No comments:
These x2 pumps sure are glitchy little machines. This is my third x2 and now it just glitched out too.  Ignore the horrible graph, I had a bad night.

I am still fighting Metformin G.I. side effects

2 comments:
I am still trying the Metformin and still having bouts of g.i. issues.  I think I have been on twice daily 500mg dose for 2 weeks. Whew I think I'm past the g.i. effects and then BAM 430 A.M. my bowels are attempting to see how hard they can cramp before I die.

Got my third replacement tandem x2 insulin pump.

2 comments:
I just got my third replacement tandem x2 pump in the mail the other day.  I still have to do the tedious work of  copying down settings into the new one.

My first x2 could not get and keep Dexcom signal.  Now the 2nd one keeps freaking out and saying I have an invalid transmitter id.

Still using my legs for pumps site with success

2 comments:
So I am using the areas all around my knees for insulin pump infusion sites.  They are working with varying success.  Some places hurt like heck or get in the way constantly.  Inside the knee area doesnt work well for side sleeping or leg crossing and I do both.

A new approach to my t1d management and its working great!

2 comments:
So nearly a month ago I started a new approach to my type 1 Diabetes management.  I am taking Metformin which is typically a type 2 Diabetes pill. My endo agreed to let me try it to see what happens.
