Strength training and why I am hooked.

I started weight lifting 2 years ago because I was so far out of shape and a mess from my 2nd pregnancy.  My abdominal muscles were separated from that pregnancy and it caused me a lot of back pain.  I started out with the Mutu system to help get my muscles back together. After my first workout I swore I was never going to be able to walk again.  I was so sore I had to wait a whole week to workout again.  I got through the whole mutu system and my core felt a lot stronger. I still have weakened connective tissue, I need to have the muscles stitched back together.

Then I added in weight lifting.  At first that was horrible also, the muscle soreness was unreal and I almost gave up.  I have taken weeks off due to burn out and soreness but I knew I had to get back into it.

Now over 2 years in I am addicted to weight lifting. Its like a challenge to workout hard enough to make my muscles sore.  I have to work really hard and lift heavier and heavier to make gains, but I am hooked on it.

My diabetes is so much easier to manage when I weight lift and I need so much less insulin, even all day long after a workout.  I try to workout for 1.5 hours minimum and if the day allows it I go for 2 hours. I wear a fitbit and I workout out until I have burned at least 300 calories.

I am so much stronger than I was before and can get so much more accomplished with no pain afterward.  I can do yardwork with no pain afterward.  I can even use our gas weed eater for 4 or 5 hours with no pain afterward, other than my hands might hurt a little, I can walk over 8 miles just using the weed eater on our property. I feel so much better being stronger.

The best benefit is that I am finally losing bodyfat that Ive been trying to lose for years.  It is coming off so very slowly but it is going away! My abdominal fat is glued to me I swear, but it is shrinking! I have even gone down a size in jeans, which the best reward! I cannot wait until I can get my abdominal muscles repaired and all the extra skin removed, I will no doubt go down another jean size.

So if you are needing to lose weight or get into shape, there is no better day than today to start! If I can do it and over come the horrible muscle pain so can you.  I have even mostly cured my lower back pain, by including piriformis stretches into my routine.

I use the ketogains calculator online and I do follow a low carb high protein and moderate fat diet. If I can do it, you can too.  I LOVE bread, cookies and cakes just as much as any other carb addict but I had to give it up so I could live a long life and as healthy as I can. I do still cheat but I try to limit it as much as possible.

I finally got my first 81XXX Dexcom G6  transmitter and today was my first sensor restart attempt with it. I keep reading about everyone failures and attempts to get it to restart as apparently Dexcom is on to us and is trying desperately to stop us from restarting.  I hear the 8GXXX transmitters are even harder to restart sensors.

I finally had to order a new tclip for my x2 pump because it fell and broke.  I called tandem and I ordered a new one and grudgingly paid shipping.  It took much longer than I expected to get to my house but it arrived today.  Much to my surprise they updated it! Finally!

They made the top button easier to push and put a rubber gripper on the metal clip part so it stays on better.

Here are some pics. The blue clip is the old style/was my backup.

So I usually hand wash my vehicle in the Summer since its nice outside and we live in the country.  Today I decided since it was going to be really hot that it would be a good day to wash and maybe buff out some scratches on my Jeep with compound (former car detailer of 5 years here).

Restart your G6 sensor with an android phone and X2 pump

This is how I successfully restart my g6 sensors with my ANDROID PHONE and X2 INSULIN PUMP.  I cannot tell you how to do it with an iphone or with just the insulin pump or with just a phone. Do this BEFORE your sensor session runs out, do it as many days or hours in advance as it works for you just do it with at least 6 hours left. I have not gotten any of the newer transmitters so when I get one I will let you know how it goes. I am still on an 80XXXX transmitter.

Woah, sorry for the super long blogging hiatus!! It has been a busy busy year so far.

I am back on almost 100% low carb high protein and weight lifting.  My husband has joined me in the low carb life and is also seeing great results! I have dropped a few pounds but most importantly I have gained muscle and am slowly losing body fat.  My belly and back likes to hang onto fat for dear life.

I had to ditch xdrip+ and go back to Dexcom app

Well I love xdrip+, its predictions, ability to enter carbs, insulin doses and all the bells and whistles.  My Samsung Galaxy S8 phone, however, hates xdrip+ and refused to play well with the app.  It kept losing signal and refusing to re-pair without much work and frustration from me and a lot of swearing at my phone. Most of the signal loss issues were happening at night and so then my followers were in the dark.  I had to shut my missed signal alarm off because it was going off too much and making me craaaazy.
